Everything about Missy and Peter’s colorful Los Angeles wedding was unique, from their date (Leap Day – February 29th!), to their venue (The Unique Space), to their food (s’mores instead of cake!), to their outfits! From the moment they arrived together at the venue with Peter in a hot pink suit and Missy in a custom glitter star gown from Galia Lahav, I knew this day was going to be extra special! Straying from the typical day-of timeline, we kicked things off with portraits of the two of them around the DTLA Arts District and spent the afternoon back at Unique Space where Shindig Chic had added beautiful florals to the space. Missy and Peter’s Unique Space wedding was published in the Winter 2020 national issue of The Knot Magazine and can also be seen here on The Knot’s website! Missy shares that their colorful invitations gave guests the first clue that this would be a non-traditional wedding!
The ombre wall at The Unique Space was a perfect backdrop for their portraits and ceremony.
Let’s kick off the afternoon with portraits around the Arts District! Missy, Peter, myself, and their two Shark Pig videographers, Cody and Drew, all piled into a car with a driver so we could quickly hit up a few different spots that I had scouted earlier in the week. First up was this funky restaurant exterior!
How fun is this chromatic rainbow mural by Jen Stark? It perfectly fit their neon vibe!
A black glitter manicure, yes!! Love this alternative bridal look!
Blooming bougainvillea in February? Yes please!
We got back to Unique Space and took some more portraits with the fun ombre wall before guests began arriving for the ceremony. They had custom denim jackets made by Daily Disco!
Missy and Peter also did all of their family portraits prior to the ceremony which takes a lot of pressure off of a timeline!
Peter and his grandmother were so cute!
Shindig Chic set up this copper rectangular chuppah with colorful flowers and bougainvillea. It also included Peter’s late grandfather’s tallit, which made the chuppah extra special.
Missy and Peter walked down the aisle together – another sweet non-traditional move!
They made custom hot pink yarmulkes that matched Peter’s suit!
Missy vowed to “always share her French fries” and Peter vowed to “always watch one more episode” – so sweet and fun!
Breaking of the glass!
Each guest was given a bubble gun for the processional!
We went up to the Unique Space’s rooftop during cocktail hour, just in time for sunset!
Missy’s star cathedral-length veil was such a fun addition to her bridal look!
I spy Missy’s white sneakers! Love that she opted for comfort!
A view of the Unique Space from above!
Meanwhile, Shindig Chic created a beautiful reception space with a variety of bud vases filled with ranunculus, poppies, sweet peas, and garden roses.
This balloon arch was a fun backdrop for the dance floor!
Missy and Peter had a watercolor artist from Chasing Linen do custom portraits of guests! It was a fun reception activity and a special gift for guests to remember the day.
We finished the night with homemade epic s’mores!
Congratulations Missy and Peter!!
