Cyn & Wes’ Poppy Field Anniversary Session

If you live in Southern California (and perhaps even if you don’t!), you likely heard a thing or two about the incredible super blooms that blessed our state in spring of 2017 and 2019. The normally drought-ridden land received an abundance of rain those winters, giving way to spectacular wildflowers! Mike and I were lucky enough to take our engagement photos during the 2017 super bloom, and when the rains started hitting again this year, I kept a close eye on nature websites to see if we’d be lucky enough to get another bloom so close to the last one. Sure enough, we did!

I was so eager to capture this phenomenon and immediately thought of Cyn of @hotpinkpineapples, and her husband, Wes. Aside from being incredibly sweet humans, they’re also very stylish. They wore the coolest outfits to a recent wedding I photographed, and I could picture them so perfectly in this incredible setting. They met at a mutual friend’s wedding in Texas and were both happily surprised to discover the other lived in LA – and the rest is history! We were able to pull this session together in a few days time, and luckily, before droves of people descended on Walker Canyon in Lake Elsinore soon thereafter. I’m very grateful to have witnessed this natural magic multiple times in the last few years. This session was a dream come true!

And to note – we were extremely careful to protect the poppies. Cyn and Wes were always on a path, if not the main trail, and any photos that appear otherwise are thanks to photo angles and/or Photoshop. 🙂
